Millville Senior High School celebrated its 50th year of operations during the opening of the 2014 school year, and the PTSA has been around just as long and has evolved with the times.  This organization is based at the school.

Cathy Damico is the President of the Millville Senior High School PTSA.  MSHS Principal Kathy Procopio, who has been part of the school for over 12 years, serves on the board as liaison with the teaching staff.  David Vorndran, the Guidance Supervisor, serves on the board as the Vice President.  Other members of our group include, Samantha Powell, Recording Secretary; Patti Mackie, Treasurer; Karen Pletcher, Membership Chairperson and Ryan Pletcher, student liaison.

The PTSA is a small group of parents and teachers that work very hard throughout the year holding fundraisers in order to fund the Project Graduation event that is held each year after graduation.  This event is offered free to all of our seniors in order to give them an alcohol free safe environment to go to after graduating rather than attending parties.  The past 2 years the event was held at Dave and Busters in Philadelphia.  The event costs approximately $25,000.00 and includes transportation, food, dancing, games and prizes.

The students and chaperones take buses after graduation to the senior high, where there is a small reception for their friends and families, before loading onto the buses.  Students and chaperones spend from 10 PM to 4 AM having a blast enjoying their last high school event and seeing their school friends and teachers as graduates.  It is an event that the students look forward to in their senior year.

Other activities the PTSA sponsors include:

  • Providing three - $500 scholarships to seniors

  • Funding 10 yearbooks per year for students who can’t afford them

  • Sponsoring the Academic Varsity program

  • Providing funding for a photo booth for the Holly Ball and Teacher Appreciation breakfast and lunch.

The fundraisers include the concession stand during football games in the fall, PTSA Volleyball tournament, Dancing with the Staff, Powderpuff game and helping out with the annual car show.

Members of the PTSA stated: “We couldn’t do this without the generosity and support we receive from our staff, parents, students and the businesses of Millville.  The PTSA thanks the Chamber tremendously for choosing it to receive this award!”
