The Greater Millville Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Maranell Estadt is the “Outstanding Citizen” for February 2015..

Estadt is the President of the Friends of the Millville Public Library.

“Maranell is an asset to the Friends of the Library through her exercise of effective leadership and obvious concern toward the library’s progress,” said Ethan Aronoff, president of the Millville Public Library Board of Trustees.

“She is an enthusiastic, energetic leader,” said Val Chance, a founding member in 1999 of the current organization. Chance cited Estadt’s active role in working on projects to raise much-needed funds for the library.

Estadt doesn’t just preside at the Friends’ meeting and attend the library board meetings as a liaison, she can be found on many days working in the basement where the Friends have some 20,000 books.

During the past year, Estadt spent 124 days working as a volunteer at the library. She cited the cooperation and excellent support provided by Susan D’Ottavio, the new library director.

Estadt reported that the 57-member Friends of the Millville Public Library raised $7,167 from the sale of books, tapes, records and puzzles and dues which enabled the library to make purchases of books and equipment, as well as help fund children’s programs this past year.
