It has become the Chamber’s tradition to honor a student as the Outstanding Citizen at the regular May luncheon, and this year the Chamber chose Millville Senior High School student Samantha Price as the “Outstanding Citizen” for the month.
The intelligent, athletic, and musically gifted MSHS senior plans to attend Rowan University to pursue a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering in the fall. The reigning Miss Holly City has achieved a long list of academic, music and athletic accolades including National Honor Society, Music Honor Society, varsity letters in soccer plus Bronze, Silver and Gold Congressional medal awardee.
Kathy Procopio, Principal of Millville Sr. High School (MSHS) noted: “Samantha is amazing at everything she does – a great athlete, a great student, a great musician, a great actress and just an all-around great young lady. We were lucky to have her as part of our school family. Anyone who came to see Phantom of the Opera knows what I am talking about – Samantha played Christine and she was truly outstanding!”
Robert DeSantis, MSHS Instrumental Music, Marching Band and Musical Director said, “Samantha has been and is such an amazing person and I hope that she got as much from this school as we all got from her. Her commitment to bettering herself is second to none. She has been a leader on the stage for the past four years in our musicals and was the lead this year, Christine in the Phantom of the Opera. She also has been the lead alto saxophone in the Championship winning Jazz Band the past three years!! Aside from being a great student, she is a great person. She has a terrific attitude and a great laugh. I am proud to say that she is represented Millville and the High School when she goes to Rowan for Engineering. I wish her nothing but the best and thank her for all she did for us.”
Price is also involved in the Go Green Club, the Madrigals select choir group and has had the lead role in the Spring musicals throughout her high school career. Her community service participation includes being a counselor at Summer Fun Camp at Lakeside Middle School, plus various types of volunteering at her church, including participating in the vacation bible school and nursery.
