Brenda Codispoti, the October recipient of the Millville Chamber of Commerce’s Outstanding Citizen Award, is the full-time volunteer director of Precious Hearts Day Care, which is sponsored by the Millville Nazarene Church.

“Brenda is a person committed to serving her community wherever she finds a need,” said Jonathan Merki, pastor of Millville Nazarene Church. "Her primary motivation is people, and she serves families well through serving their children full-time as a volunteer. Hers is an example we all can emulate.”

“I feel like I am serving God,” Codispoti said.

Codispoti supervises a center which currently serves 25 children, ages six weeks to three years. She said that her past experiences in business and education have greatly helped…. from writing policy to developing staff.

A graduate of Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA., Codispoti taught English in Pittsgrove Township from 1985 to 2011. She has also taught at Cumberland Christian School in Vineland and at the Vineland Adult Center.

She was recognized in 1992 and 1994 in “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.”

Prior to entering the education field, Codispoti was a technical writer for Atlantic Aviation in Wilmington, Del. and an administrative assistant for a company in Parsippany, N.J.

In addition to her work at the day care center, Codispoti is secretary of the church board at the Millville Nazarene Church and plays the piano on Sunday. She also participates in other activities.

A native of Jersey City, Codispoti grew up in North Jersey. She has lived in Millville since 1981 and is a genuine booster of the city, supporting the many positive things taking place.
